Jeremiah 49:23-25

Hamath and Arpad are troubled,
for they have heard bad news.
They melt in fear.
Like a troubled sea,
they cannot find rest.
²⁴ Damascus has become feeble.
She turns to flee.
Panic has seized her.
Anguish and sorrows have taken hold of her,
    like those of a woman in labor.
²⁵ Why is this famous city not yet forsaken,^[a]
the joyful city?^[b]
